Timesheets

Students and non-exempt employees are paid an hourly rate for their work which requires that the university record the actual hours of work and leave used each pay period and calculate the employee's salary payment accordingly. Some departments on campus use time clocks to gather this information and others use timesheets.

Employees who use timesheets to track their hours are responsible for maintaining a timesheet for each two week pay period and forwarding it to their manager for approval at the end of the pay period. Please see the University's policy for signing and submitting timesheets for more information.

As described in the policy, if a supervisor is not on campus to sign a timesheet by the deadline for submission to Payroll, an electronic timesheet may be submitted. The supervisor should send the completed timesheet to Karen Kitchen by email with a statement that he or she approves the reported hours. The employee must sign the paper timesheet and submit to Payroll as well. The two timesheets will be compared and the email indicating the supervisor's approval will be attached and filed in the Business Office.
