It is our expectation that students at St. Lawrence University engage in the process of academic planning over their academic career in order to best achieve their academic goals and reach their full potential. By academic planning we mean intentionally mapping your academic, intellectual, and co-curricular lives so as to achieve a fully integrated university experience. Academic planning goes beyond simply selecting courses. Ideally, academic planning includes thoughtful reflection about a particular course of study so that you choose courses and plan semesters according to a broader set of academic goals. Academic planning also means fully examining and taking advantage of the intellectual and co-curricular opportunities that are available to enhance your coursework.

Academic planning also includes intelligent use of resources. To assist in this process, St. Lawrence University provides insitutional support to help you achieve your academic, intellectual, and co-curricular goals. First, every student on campus has a faculty advisor, coordinated through the Office of Academic Advising. Advisors are available to guide you as you make decisions about your academic life. In addition, there are resources available to help students - both strong students and students who are struggling - to achieve academic success.
